Learners are required to complete a portfolio of evidence.

Aims and objectives of the qualification

The objective of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding required to safeguard and protect children in residential care. All staff in residential childcare are required to undertake safeguarding training and are audited against this requirement during regulatory visits and inspections.

Progression opportunities

Learners who complete this qualification may go on to further study in related areas such as the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare and the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.

Entry guidance

Learners must be at least 18 years old.
