The objective of this qualification is to recognise learners’ achievements within the Adult Care environment. Learners will work in adult social care and have responsibility for leading and managing a service. This will include managing and improving care and support for those accessing the service; supporting and developing the workforce; and driving the vision for their service or organisation. Primarily, the qualification aims to support the development of registered managers of adult social care services. Specifically, those new to their role.
This qualification provides learners with an opportunity to demonstrate their experience in management roles within adult care services and where appropriate can demonstrate continuing professional development. This qualification is recognised by Care Quality Commission (CQC) for registration though not a requirement for registered managers.
This RQF competence-based qualification is designed for those people who are involved in Adult Care as their primary work activity and are seeking to develop their career in Adult Care.
This qualification was developed in consultation with stakeholders to ensure the content is full and relevant to ensure learners are occupationally competent in the workplace.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification however learners must be at least 19 years of age and are expected to have achieved a related qualification at Level 3 and/or Level 4.

The Department of Health and Social Care is offering funding for the adult social care workforce through the Adult Social Care Learning and Development Support Scheme - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
The scheme offers funding for adult care employers to support learning and development of non-regulated care staff. To qualify for the Learning and Development Support Scheme, individuals must be employed by an employer (including local authorities) that meets all of the following criteria. The employer must:
provide an adult social care service
directly employ care staff in England
complete, or have already completed, the Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set (ASC-WDS)
