Assessment requirements

This qualification is internally assessed and internally quality assured by Centre staff and externally quality assured by Innovate Awarding External Quality Advisors (EQAs). Learners must compile a portfolio of evidence demonstrating how they meet the learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

Aims and objectives of the qualification

The purpose of this qualification is to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding in relation to end of life care, and the application of end of life principles and practice.

Progression opportunities

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress on to further training or education and go on to qualifications in a range of sectors, such as:

  • IAO Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Dementia Care

  • IAO Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Working in Mental Health (QCF)

  • IAO Level 2 Certificate in Understanding the Safe Handling of Medicines (QCF)
