This qualification is internally assessed and internally quality assured by Centre staff and externally quality assured by Innovate Awarding External Quality Advisors (EQAs).

Aims and objectives of the qualification

The aim of the Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is to provide the learner with skills, knowledge and practical teaching skills. It will support the learner within a Teaching Assistant Role and in a school environment. It provides an insight into the principles and processes of supporting and communicating with children, assisting with activities and assessment of their learning whilst gaining a broader insight into schools as organisations.

The objective of the qualification is to prepare learners for employment and support them in an assistant teaching role within the workplace.

Progression opportunities

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress into or within employment within a school setting and/or continue their study in this or other areas.

Entry guidance

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. It is important that learners have the required language and literacy skills to be able to achieve the qualification and that those registering for the certificates in supporting teaching and learning or the Level 3 certificate have sufficient numeracy skills to be able to support pupils’ learning.

This qualification is suitable for those who work, or who are looking to work within the Education and Teaching sector. It provides Learners with an opportunity to demonstrate their competence and knowledge in a range of job roles.
