About the apprenticeship

A Team leader or supervisor is a first line management role, with operational and project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. They provide direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same whatever the role.

Assessment methods

Gateway Requirements

To reach Gateway the employer will need to be satisfied that the apprentice is consistently working at, or above, the occupational competence of a Level 3 Team Leader. At Gateway the apprentice must have achieved Level 2 English and Maths. At Gateway the apprentice will submit their portfolio of evidence for review and portfolio of evidence locator.

Presentation with Questions

The apprentice will be given their presentation topic from the Innovate Awarding Assessor at Gateway acceptance. The apprentice must submit any presentation materials to the Innovate Awarding Assessor by the end of week four of the EPA period. The presentation and questions must last 50 minutes; typically, 20 minutes for the presentation and 30 minutes for the questioning.

Professional Discussion underpinned by a Portfolio of Evidence

The professional discussion will take place with an Innovate Awarding Assessor and will last for 60 minutes. The Assessor will ask the apprentice a minimum of five questions.

Grading

The assessments will be graded as Distinction/ Pass/Fail. The last step along the journey is the receipt of the certificate which will be sent to the employer.

Resit costs

Professional Discussion: £375. Presentation: £250.
