Gateway Requirements
To reach Gateway the employer will need to be satisfied that the apprentice is consistently working at, or above, the occupational competence of the Level 2 Retailer. At Gateway the apprentice will submit a readiness form. At Gateway the apprentice must have achieved Level 1 English and Maths.
On Demand Test
The apprentice will complete a 30 minute on demand multiple choice test consisting of scenario based questions. It will be undertaken either at the workplace or offsite.
Practical Observation
The apprentice will complete a two hour practical observation with an Innovate Awarding Assessor at the workplace, which must include customer interaction. It must cover the knowledge, skills and behaviours for the Customer, Business, Communication and Brand Reputation elements of the standard. Any sections not identified in this assessment, will be assessed in the subsequent professional discussion.
Professional Discussion
The professional discussion will take place with an Innovate Awarding Assessor and will typically last for 60 minutes. The employer will be present to support (but not lead) the apprentice and confirm information. The apprentice will be informed of the requirements prior to the discussion at least five days in advance. The professional discussion will be conducted in a controlled environment away from the normal place of work.
The assessments will be graded as Distinction/ Pass/Fail. The last step along the journey is the receipt of the certificate which will be sent to the employer.
