Gateway Requirements
To reach Gateway the employer will need to be satisfied that the apprentice is consistently working at, or above, the occupational competence of a Level 3 Production Assistant. At Gateway the apprentice must have achieved Level 2 English and Maths. At Gateway the apprentice will submit their portfolio of evidence in preparation for review.
Scenario Test
The scenario test enables the apprentice to show how they react to a production brief, interpret information and present their findings. They will be given a brief that relates to the type of production they have worked on (for example, film, TV, radio, podcast or online content). The apprentice will then have a total of 2.5 hours to respond and prepare a 10 minute presentation of their findings and a proposed episode or programme structure for production. After 60 minutes the apprentice will be presented with additional information that represents a creative or operational change.
Presentation and Questioning
The apprentice’s 10 minute presentation will be followed by a further 20 minutes of questions. The scenario test, presentation and questions will take place in one, 2.5 hour session and will most likely take place remotely.
Professional Discussion underpinned by your Portfolio
The professional discussion will take place with an Innovate Awarding Assessor and will last for 60 minutes. They will ask a number of questions after reviewing the apprentice’s portfolio of evidence. The portfolio itself will not be assessed.
The individual assessments will be graded as Distinction/Pass/Fail. They are weighted equally. If the apprentice achieves a pass and a distinction, they will be awarded an overall Merit grade.
