About the apprenticeship

The Level 7 Game Programmer Standard has been designed specifically for the games and interactive entertainment industry for programmers creating software designed for entertainment and across games consoles, desktop computers, mobile devices, websites and TVs. It is suitable for AAA and indie studios.

Assessment methods

Gateway Requirements

At Gateway you must have achieved Level 2 English and Maths. At Gateway you will submit your portfolio of evidence for review. You will also submit a Project Proposal which must be approved before you can begin the EPA period.

Project with Software Artefact

After coming through Gateway you will work on your project and produce the resulting software artefact/asset. You will prepare a 45 minute presentation. Both will need to be submitted to Innovate Awarding before your assessment day.

Presentation with Questions

Your 45 minute presentation on the outcome of your project will be followed by a further 45 minutes of questions. This will most likely take place remotely.

Professional Discussion underpinned by your Portfolio

The professional discussion will take place remotely with an Innovate Awarding Assessor and will last for one hour and 105 minutes. They will ask a number of questions after reviewing your portfolio of evidence.
