About the apprenticeship

This occupation is found in small, medium, and large organisations within the public, private and third sectors. Associate project managers work in all sectors such as government, retail, food and drink, infrastructure, education, charities, research, and banking. The working environment can vary from being in an office, on site, at client, and contactor’s locations and working remotely.

Assessment methods

Gateway Requirements

To reach Gateway the employer will need to be satisfied that the apprentice is consistently working at, or above, the occupational competence of a Level 4 Associate Project Manager. At Gateway the apprentice must have achieved Level 2 English and Maths. At Gateway the apprentice will submit their portfolio of evidence for review, portfolio of evidence locator and project scoping document which must be approved before the apprentice begins the End-Point Assessment.

Project

Once the project title and scoping document is approved at Gateway, the apprentice will begin to produce their written project report. The project report will have a maximum word limit of 3500 words.

Project Presentation and Questioning

The apprentice will have 20 minutes to deliver a presentation of their project, followed by 40 minutes of questioning.

Professional Discussion

The professional discussion will take place with an Innovate Awarding Assessor and will last for 60 minutes. They will ask the apprentice a number of questions after reviewing their portfolio of evidence.

Grading

The assessments will be graded as Distinction/ Pass/Fail. The last step along the journey is the receipt of the certificate which will be sent to the employer.

Resit costs

Professional Discussion: £500. Presentation: £500.
